Did my culture(usa)trade advancement for technology?
Post Body

I watch alot of older television and movies. Specifically from the 1950's and the 1960's.....but it feels like alot of the most important "Advancements" in our society occured by those times and actually peaked. Take a look at cities for instance. or the amount of advanced machinery in place by the 1960's.

Now it seems like style and technology are the markers used in my society for "advancement"......like what music is popular or what people are wearing or the next new tech.

But so much as seemingly peaked and is in decay.

IS this some type of side-quest for humanity....like humanity subconsciously said "nah i think im going to do this for a minute instead....YOLO"

Edit: It also makes me think if getting AI and tech to do so much for us is actually "advanced" at all or not.....i suppose it is but it is a great power.....and with great power comes great responsibility....but has our search for "advancement" reduced our overall sense responsibility?

Second edit: Is technology actually inadvertently causing some advancements in society to devolve or regress.....it would be easy to say yes. But i dont think that is necessarily right.
