Suppose I'm a cop in the United States of America and I am 99% sure that a property of interest is a trap house. The problem is that despite the pile of evidence from previous busts, I do think I have probable cause to search the property myself. The suspects are already onto me and if I make myself known to them before obtaining the warrant, they will probably have time to hide the evidence and split.
This question is two parts. First, how exactly does a cop obtain a search warrant? Like, what is the actual, physical process? Do you need to show up to a courtroom and make a testimony? Do judges have office hours for warrant hearings?
The second question is how much time/effort will it take? Would I be able to get it signed in hours? Days? How much evidence do I need to present? Do I need the help of the district attorney's office to argue to the judge that a search is warranted?
