My colleague was only 21 years of age when this happened. She had a tough upbringing as her mother has schizophrenia and what she's told us, it was a extremely toxic household. With the high cost of living, my colleague cannot afford to move out or rent. She got into a relationship with a guy a decade older, he provided her with gifts and getaways. She admits that she's rushing into the relationship and said yes to his proposal after only 4 dates. The first 4 months of marriage were perfect, he gave her expensive goods, holidays etc. He stated that she doesn't have to work and he'll take care of everything. Fast forward to now , she's 23 years old, has a newborn baby, cut off all of her friends and only hangs around with his sister, his female friends. She's depressed and didn't think her life would be like this. He sucked her into this perfect fantasy life, she was so gullible, and now that he seeled the deal with her, marriage, a kid, her being dependent of him, he stopped the affection, stopped buying her goods, stopped taking her out etc, a completely different person to who was going out with. She did admit that she regretted marrying that young. But now she's so dependent on him financially, no job, no qualifications etc.
