Every time I hear people talking about the housing market in a certain western country it's always about how it's in a crisis right now. I'm not denying it; my experiences with trying to find housing in new countries has always been very difficult. In my native Canada finding an affordable place that is even half decent is almost impossible and the situation for incoming students has gotten so bad it's not uncommon for internationals to share rooms with like 4 other people. I went abroad to Belgium for school and it took months to find a place there and tons of people were getting scammed or having to cancel their school plans because they couldn't find a place to live. Exact same situation in the Netherlands as well, where I am now. It took months for me to find a place in Belgium and I got lucky enough to find one within a week of looking in the Netherlands but I found out later that if I didn't take the place that I got, I likely wouldn't have gotten anything at all. Housing is just straight up not available and when places do open up they have dozens of people applying within an hour of a posting coming up. I've heard the exact thing about Ireland, Germany, Portugal, and it's not exactly sunshine and rainbows either in most of the USA.
So is there any country in the west that isn't going through this right now? Where housing is both relatively easy to get and affordable?
