Is marriage really that important to people?
Post Body

So, it was recently revealed to me by a mental health specialist that I have a "schizoid personality" —essentially I have traits consistent Schizoid Personality Disorder, but not enough to be diagnosed. And with that, I am questioning my preconceived notions about a lot of things.

I'm wondering about marriage. Many people describe it as the best day of their life. They spend thousands of dollars, and many fantasize about being married early on in childhood/adolescence.

I don't really understand that mindset. Perhaps it's because I've never had a romantic relationship, nor am I religious and it holds no religious weight for me. But I don't really see the significance. You're with your partner before then and you're with them after then. I really do not like being in the spotlight either.

If it were up to me, it would be a thing where there's a small ceremony, and then we all go out to eat at like Texas Roadhouse or something.
