Do animals have issues going to sleep

My dog just laying behind my back had me thinking. She gets up on the couch, lays against/behind my back, and is instantly asleep. Do dogs/animals have a switch that they just click when it’s time for bed or do they have issues like humans? I.E. - thoughts about the day or the next days keeping you up.
