Does anyone thank nonmilitary workers for their service?
Post Body

Military personnel seem to agree that thanking them for their service is awkward/feels phony when strangers do it. But what about thanking a rideshare driver for being out to pick you up in ready abysmal weather? Or if you find out someone is a hospice nurse and you're grateful for the work they do bc hospice was really good to your dad? Are there any nonmilitary professionals/other workers you thank on principle bc you believe their job is important/has helped you personally a great deal?

edit: obviously, we should thank anyone who helps us in the moment. I mean like, categories of workers that you believe are a net good for society so you tell said workers you appreciate their profession even if they aren't, for example, your nurse/teacher etc.
