Obviously Ronaldo has more followers on IG and on socials overall than Messi but am I the only one who feels Messi has the streets more. I feel Messi causes more mass hysteria than Ronaldo for example when he played China last year and theirs were thousands of fans in the streets celebrating that Messi is coming to town and in the stadium everyone had a Messi shirt.

Or when he won the World Cup and returned to Argentina for his first international break and had thousands of fans waiting outside of a restaurant for him. Argentina fans during the World Cup have bowed down to him. When he played Brazil one game a Brazil fan had a poster of him as a king with his World Cup. He’s so famous and influential he’s broke barriers between the biggest international rivalry ever. He’s also had the most fans I’ve ever seen run up to him on the pitch just to take a picture with him. One fan even kissed his feet. Not saying ronaldo doesn’t have mass hysteria moments but I fee Messi has more and is generally more revered around the world than Ronaldo.

It’s close either way and one name doesn’t get brought up without saying the other but imo although Ronaldo has the socials, social media isn’t always the best reflector of how popular someone is although it is a very good indicator but in this case I’d have to slightly give the edge to Messi.
