Why can't they pin down Hitler's grandpa?
Post Body

Hi, I read that Adolf Hitler's paternal grandfather (the father of Alois Hitler) may be Johann Georg Hiedler, Johann Nepomuk Hiedler (or Hüttler), or Leopold Frankenberger. Frankenberger's existence hasn't been confirmed, so I guess we can't do DNA tests for him, but why can't people find some relatives of the Hiedlers and some relatives of Adolf Hitler, and tests their DNAs to see if they are related? Thanks!

I hope this isn't a stupid question.
