I live in Australia, although I was born to white parents from South Africa.
They are severely racist and I'm not about that life. I've been too afraid to date anyone other than white people my whole life. I like a colleague who's of Asian descent, and I'm battling what's been engraved in my head from a young age.
I know if I dated an Asian girl, I'd be excluded from the family. How do you break the pattern? Also, I can't control who I get attracted to.
I'm 25, I live my own life, and I live on the other side of the country away from my parents. But still, I can hear them in my head to this day about who I can date.
