Is it pointless for someone like me to learn German?

I started slowly learning it since middle school out of boredom now I feel like I'm dealing with a sunk cost fallacy.
I never plan to actually speak with someone in German or go somewhere where they speak it, I don't read a lot of books, maybe a few a year, I rarely watch movies or TV shows. I think I am learning just for the sake of learning it.
