Does anyone know how dreams actually work?
Post Body

I'm mainly referring to two main points.

1- Dreams are so much more imaginative and crazy than I could ever think of while awake no matter my effort even though your brain is supposed to be resting during sleep, so how come it feels like my brain is more imaginative during "rest" rather than fully awake.

2- they are short but feel so long, for example - yesterday morning when I woke up it was 11 am on the dot because I set an alarm but I went back to sleep and had a dream that felt like hours but when I woke back up it was only 11:20, how does that work?
