Do you prefer succint posts or wordy explanations?

Often when I reply or post or short and sweet, people make sooo many assumptions and my replies are largely of the "I never said that" and explaining further variety.

But if I write up a background, situation, my thoughts, etc., it's often TLDR and/or the replies indicate that people only skimmed or spot-read anyway.

So - which do more people prefer? That will be my default from now on. :) (It seems I can't post a poll here?)

(Now let's see how many people come up with incorrect assumptions about why I care... :) )
