Why didn't the security guard let me pull the basket toward me when emptying my pockets?
Post Body

This happened a month ago and is still bothering me, partially because I found him to be pretty rude about it but mostly because I'm confused about it. I figure maybe if I found there was a logical reason, it would be easier to stop ruminating: illogical things, especially those that directly affect me, deeply disturb me.

So you know when you see the TSA at the airport and they make you empty your pockets into a plastic bin that they then send through a metal detector? I went to a place with the same setup, but when he pulled out a basket for me to put my things into, I tried to pull it toward me, but he scowled and held it in place.

Was he just an ass on a power trip, or was there some logical reason my pulling the basket toward me could have posed a security threat?
