Why do I like the smell of beer but not the taste? Why can I not smell bitterness?
Post Body

My friends all drink beer and I can't stand the taste, too bitter. But I love the smell of beer it reminds me of dough and perhaps there are some nostalgic memories associated with the smell as it reminds me of my dad.

My friends asked me why is it that I like the smell and not the taste and I didn't have a solid answer except that I can't smell bitterness.

Can anyone explain the science behind why I can taste bitterness but not smell it? Is bitterness only a thing felt on the tongue?
