Last night I found $10 at the grocery store. The customer service desk was closed, so I asked an employee and they said that if I came back tomorrow, I could turn it in, and if no one claimed it in 30 days, I could claim it.
So I did that, and at first the customer service guy just took it and said they'd handle it. I asked about the policy and he didn't know, so the manager came and just had me write my name and number on a scrap piece of paper.
The whole thing felt very unofficial. I can't imagine I'm getting a call back one way or another.
