I see a lot of people go out of their way to poke fun of others for getting emotional at certain parts of video games.
There could be a scene where a bomb goes off, and wipes out an entire city of civilians, and if someone says that they were really saddened by it, there’s always at least one wise guy that says something along the lines of “Calm down, nerd. It’s just a game.”.
Well no shit, Sherlock. 99% of us are fully aware that it’s not real, and nobody actually died, but that doesn’t mean it can’t be emotionally effective. The developers made the scene that way for a reason. It’s SUPPOSED to make you sad.
If sad scenes in video games, or any other piece of media don’t do anything for you, then that’s fine. But you’re not better than someone else who was affected by it. Why is this so hard for seemingly a lot of people to realize?
