Does going into a physical location still help with getting hired?
Post Body

I went into a place recently and asked about an employment opportunity I'd heard about. They'd showed where to apply online but the listing for my area wasn't there. So when I talked to them, they said keep checking back online, as they definitely do need that position filled, and the listing should come back up again soon.

An older person in my life keeps emphasizing, "You gotta go in there and show your face to increase your chances." But I just feel like, How's that going to help? I don't believe they even give paper applications. You just have to keep looking online, like they said. Am I stupid for feeling ridiculous for going back in and being like, "Hey, about that position you said to keep looking online for, is it available now"?
