If someone says “hit me then”, does that clear the other person of being charged with assault if they do hit them?
Post Body

I’ve seen way too many fight videos where two guys are getting in each others faces and then one guy says something like “hit me, b****!” and then lo and behold, the other guy lands a punch right to his face and knocks him out. What I’ve been wondering is, does that count as consent? The whole incident has been recorded and the guy who threw the punch has video evidence of the other guy “insisting” he punch him, can the guy who got punched still press charges against the puncher or did he give up the legal ability to do so since he technically gave the guy permission to do so?
