Why is the Middle East still being viewed as a "nasty" place?
Post Body

I tried to post an unpopular opinion here about my reasons why the Middle East is not completely horrible. I mentioned the food and also some countries that are open-minded, tolerant and safe (for women aswell) like Cyprus, Turkey and UAE. Yet I was insulted with one comment saying "As long as you are a white or Arabian Muslim terrorist man, that is fine".

I do not get it. Cyprus and Turkey do not even fall for this stereotype either. So I'm not surr why they decided to ignore my ethical points and still think that the Middle East as completely a radical place that is anti-women (well, its mainly Saudi, Kuwait, Iraq, Iran, Yemen, Syria) and eat food that is just "camel shit and piss"? Shawarma is definitely not made out of camal poo. Or is it?...

Misogyny is common in many Middle Eastern countries, but thats not limited to that area. In the west, especially in the United States, many Gen Zers and Millenials are supporting and praising Andrew Tate; many misogynistic TikTok and YouTube shorts comments and videos were made in the US aswell.

Not a Middle Easterner, but I just wonder.
