Were skyscrapers only ever used for office buildings and/or residential? Never industrial manufacturing?
Post Body

I noticed most factories are giant wide rectangles. And office buildings are tall narrow buildings. Are there historical records of factories focused on manufacturing being in skyscrapers in the late 19th century? Or was all manufacturing done in giant wide rectangle buildings?

I'm not talking about the headquarters of companies. I mean the part of business where dozens or hundreds of employees work in assembly lines or as groups.
