Why do I feel like designs are lot less colourful and more "homogenously" lame in ways.

Especially in technology. Mobile phones and laptops and smartwatches. Atleast brand wise. All samsung phones look like the same phone in different sizes. Same applied to most brands. And in general it's just plain. Only a few phone brands have some character in their designs. And what's with all the phones having a camera bump setup in top left corner? Is it ergonomics? It certainly is not convenient if your phone doesn't lay flat on a surface. I misss typing without holding my phone. .Atleast pixel phones in that aspect have something going on for them.

And user interfaces in general are uninteresting too.

I'm not asking for out of the world gimmicky designs. But don't just make everything look the same lol. Why are brands hell bent on losing their uniqueness?

This question is not only for mobile phones. But in general i feel like our world is moving towards a dystopian future where everything would look the same.
