Do rockets not get wrecked by space junk?
Post Body

So I saw this dumdum talking about NASA are liars bc if we went to the moon, how come we didn't hit a bunch of stars, HUH?!?

Which... ok, buddy.

But he did get me thinking... there's just loads of old satellites/currently in use satellites and random space junk up there now, yeah? Do rockets etc that get launched just sorta plow through cosmic garbage? Is it an obstacle for launches/setting off new satellites? Like...how are we not bumping into random parts every time something new leaves the atmosphere?
