Why does food sometimes taste kind of like plastic?
Post Body

This is something that I’ve only experienced starting in 2020. I did have Covid twice but I don’t think that’s relevant. I also have asthma and allergies, also irrelevant.

I first tasted it in kbbq brisket. It tasted like plastic, maybe kind of like chlorinated water, but very very strong, I immediately spit the food out. The same flavor has appeared in the following foods, in the order I tasted it:

Yoshinoya beef, Yoshinoya beef again,

kbbq brisket at my fave restaurant which only serves high quality meats,

the water at my next apartment but not when cooking with the water, only when drank straight from the tap,

In n out but only in the chilis and ONLY when I order the chilis in the burger (burger by itself with a side of chilis won’t have the flavor),

and most recently pollo loco chicken skin (I ate there three days apart, the flavor wasn’t there last week).

I’m going crazy. My husband tasted it the first time at the kbbq place but not any other times. He also had covid twice but he was a heavy weed smoker, I’m not sure how reliable his tastebuds are.

My daughter(4) didn’t seem to taste it today either.
