Why do diesel drivers idle there truck for long periods?
Post Body

It feels like every other day one big diesel truck or another finds my car at work so it can idle next to it for an hour. I really don’t get it. With the price of diesel you would think they would want to turn the vehicle off

Do diesels use less fuel at idle as compared to gas engines?

edit to add: I should have been clear these are pickup trucks not big rigs. But either way my question has been answered so thanks for the input everyone
