Is there anything wrong with hot dogs?

I'm poor, so I was thinking I could eat lots of hot dogs for meals. If I had a hot dog with a bunch of vegetables every day, would I get cancer or something, or are the complaints more that they have a lot of calories?
I'm assuming anything the FDA lets on the shelves can't be that bad because they're so anal, but...
