What do oil rig crews do all day?
Post Body

I kind of imagine an oil rig as something of a self-managing machine. I mean, it sort of just drills and pumps fluid up, right? And yet these machines have crews of potentially hundreds. There's probably only so much repair and preventative maintenance that needs doing, right? So how could an oil rig possibly need 150 men doing 12 hour days day and night?
