Why are there so many videos of “street takeovers” and specifically ones where people get hit by cars?

Coming up on my feeds constantly. When and how did this become a regular occurrence in America?
If it’s not common then there otherwise seems to be a disproportionate number of videos being uploaded a week.
Bonus question: how come the people that get hit by cars have their pants fall off so often?
