Why does it feel like gaming graphics have not advanced much in the last few years?

Game graphics advanced a lot in the 1990s till now from 2D to 3D.
In the past few years I feel graphics are stuck in the uncanny valley of looking a bit real and also a bit fake.
*Faces don’t look 100% real, water and mountains don’t look 100% real… there’s just that 5% to 10% fake look.
