I own both the home and land I live on in a small residential neighborhood. Due to illness and dealing with a newborn, I hadn't had time to cut my grass in roughly a month. I received a letter in the mail from the neighborhood or city saying that pos neighbor cattycorner complained about my yard calling it a nuisance and harmful to the neighborhood. They also said I needed to have it cut by a certain date or would incur a fine. I'm fairly certain since I own all of my property outright they can't make me do anything but would ask here to see if there's anything they can actually do.
Edit: I'm not within city limits nor am i part of an HOA
Edit 2: I double checked and county doesn't have any ordinance regarding lawns being kept, though there was one about not letting boats with 4 or more engines sitting on solid ground which seemed odd. After a bit of digging, the neighborhood does have an HOA but me and a fair few other neighbors are not apart of it and they sent the letter on behalf of a member. So that means I can ignore it right?
