Do people really slide money to the maître d at a restaurant to get a table?
Post Body

I've seen it in so many shows and movies where people go to a restaurant, and the maitre d says that there are no tables, then the main guy shakes their hand and slips them a $20 and then suddenly a table is available for them. This sparked a conversation between me and my gf where she says it's a huge red flag if a guy did that on a date, I'm not sure myself.

So, have any of you really done this? What were the reactions like from the person or people you were out with? What was the Maitre D's reaction? Is this just something in movies that never happened in real life?
