Why do humans enjoy loud/distorted music?

I personally love many forms of alt rock/ metal, but I always wondered why humans enjoy listening to it. Even when it comes to some intense classical music. Usually our brains don’t like loud or obnoxious sounds, such as babies crying or dogs barking. Just wondered if anyone knew any science behind this or have an interesting ideas? I’m asking in good faith because I’m curious.
