I'm currently on a vacation in a hotel which is located in distant village in the woods. I like walking and naturally, in the evenings, I walk from hotel to the town and back. There is a supermarket too there so that's the main reason to go there. it's the only way to the town. One day a dog befriended me because I like dogs and I was playing with it. He is taken care of in terms of feeding but that's it, no one pets it or plays with him. He is a very independent dog, which is a very common thing in 3rd world countries.
So today I went for walking and he decided to follow me. It seemed nice at first but as soon as we reached the settlement, other unchained independent dogs started barking at him one after another and some even decided to bite him. Now, "my dog" is very big so he wasn't afraid and wanted to bark back or even attack to protect me and himself but I was soothing him all the way and managed to go to the supermarket and come back with the round 2 barking.
I don't want him to experience this again, even though he doesn't mind and is not afraid. I don't wanna experience it either as everyone was pointing at me and I was deemed as a foreign dog guy.
How do I unfriend this dog without hurting it's feelings? Hotel can't do anything.
