Is there a correlation between being teased growing up, and developing symptoms of Depression, Anxiety and low self esteem?
Post Body

While I am looking at myself as a case. I noticed that, I sometimes do a thing where, when someone compliments me, I do a thing where, I deliberately ask something like "Why did you call me friend" or deliberately put myself down a little, to test a person's persistence in say, being friendly to me, or secretly test if they are actually serious or sincere about wanting to be my friend, or if they are serious about being fond of me. Growing up, I was often belittled, and pranked and teased, in order to "Toughen me up" Instead, it did the opposite, leaving me with non-existent self esteem, trust issues, and always confusion when someone is nice to me. Who needs bullies when I have my mom and brothers?

Anyways, I have seen reports from others about how, they got teased growing up, and ended up with severe self esteem issues well into adulthood, just from being regularly teased as a child.
