Why was the term "metrosexual" ever a thing?
Post Body

When I was growing up the term "metrosexual" was coined to generally describe (straight) men who actually put some effort into their appearance, dress, style, etc. -- since I guess before that it was practically nonexistent?

But the term suggests it's some new kind of sexuality, which is stupid I think. Why was that the term we settled on / who was that for? Did anyone actually refer to themselves as a "metrosexual?" Why did we need a word to describe it in the first place? Lol
