Was the 80s really that great?

I’m a 17 year old and I obviously wasn’t alive during that time, but I always hear adults and my parents saying that the 80s was the best decade. The way media presents the 80s as well, they always present as colorful and fun. And I’m curious, was the 80s really the “best” decade as people and media make it up to be? If so, what made it so great?
