Why do some posts on some social media site have a description of the post below.

I've seen this on instagram and tumblr. Like say you see a post of a drawing and below it it will say :
'Black and white drawing of male presenting and female presenting adults sitting around a table drinking tea.'
I use to think maybe it was for people who's computer didn't load the image but I've had poor internet for several years and at no point did I ever want to read a description of the image.
This comes off as very performative armchair activism
