I work in EMS and one of our non emergent regulars is a morbidly obese person who has like a .5-1 inch bump he needs to be wheeled over several times a week. the stretcher is 200 lbs in itself. Who these calls get dropped on is random, but as the guy in a 1 male, 1 female crew, I'm always at the head which is the heavier portion. I'm strong, but doing a 400 lb deadlift even 1 inch multiple times a week is a big ask, especially with the imperfect grip the stretcher offers.
I did find a trick though. There was a perfectly sized, perfectly long metal bar on their property that I started putting in their doorway. That made the stretcher roll up the bump and it made it at least 4x easier. The thing is though, today their caretaker came in right after us and when we left, it was gone. They must've moved it somewhere. I do plan on asking them about it next time I see them, but they're usually not there.
Where can I find a good cheap replacement? Me and my partner are both on the lookout for one in the wild or one we can buy. My back would thank you for it
