Why are so many (most?) pro sports players black?

(I don't mean this in a racist way. I am genuinely wondering.) I don't really watch or pay attention to sports. The few times I have watched basketball or football, I noticed that most of the players are black. Considering that black people are a minority of the population, you logically wouldn't expect so many of the players to be black. Why is this?
