What items do people take with them for prolonged hospital stays? I'm listed for double lung transplant but it's likely I'll need to be hospitalized before (and after) the transplant happens and I've never stayed for any period of time in a hospital. I stayed in the ICU one night last year but it was less then 24 hours.
I know to take chargers, toothbrush and toothpaste, a hairbrush, a form of entertainment, and some comfy clothes but I wasn't sure if there was anything else people take with them. Am I allowed to bring my own blanket and pillow? I plan to bring my laptop and a couple physical books, and headphones. How much clothing does one typically bring?
For reference, the hospital is 2 hours from my house with tolls so the option to just have someone fetch things as needed will be limited.
Also are you allowed to have outside foods while staying at a hospital? After transplant the diet is a little stricter so if I get the opportunity, I'd like a sort of 'last meal' sushi or medium rare steak. Plus I'm picky so I'm not sure how well the hospital food will go over with me while my diet is not restricted.
