So I have always heard the standard pronunciation of ‘diabetes’ as “die-uh-bee-tees” across multiple dictionaries and accents, and it always ended in “tees.”
However, since 2012-2015, I’ve heard the pronunciation “die-uh-bee-tus” being used jokingly but more recently, in a professional context, I’ve heard that same pronunciation being used which I found interesting.
Does anyone know where that pronunciation came from, if it was a meme or a very distinct dialect? I’ve tried googling it and nothing ever shows up for that second pronunciation, with most pages directing towards the standard pronunciation.
