Not sure if this is true for black women somewhere else, I'm specifically talking about black women living in North America. I'm not from there, I don't live there. But whether on TV shows starring black women or Youtube mall brawls, many black women seem to wear a wig over very short natural hair.
Is it culturally, does it have to to with pragmatic hair maintenance?
Note: I'm a balding white guy from Europe, I shave my head, too.
PS: r/todayilearned that there is something called "type 4 hair"
PPS: Thanks for all the explanations regarding "unprofessional hair" and also hair maintenance. I just assumed it's no different to European women with somewhat longer hair.
