Why is drinking a lot seen as "cool" or normalized?
Post Body
(To preface this, I'm not talking about, like, having a glass of wine for the taste, but drinking a lot to get drunk.) In recent times, smoking is less accepted because of anti-smoking campaigns (though it has been somewhat replaced by vaping), even social smoking. (Not all smokers are addicts.) Yet drinking is still seen as normalized and a rite of passage. Like drinking until you throw up. It seems kind of sad, honestly. (And if you choose not to drink for whatever reason, you're seen as "weird" by society.) Do you think alcohol will go the way of cigarettes with how it's seen by society?
