How come in the year 2024 a broken leg is still a death sentence for a horse?
Post Body

I was just reading about a horse in a competition leg broke and had to be put down. I don’t understand why that’s still a thing. Like surely medical technology has advance enough that a broken leg shouldn’t be a death sentence anymore. Or is something about a horses biology? Like it’s weird that we’ve come far enough that AIDS is no longer a death sentence for humans, but a horse getting a broken leg? Yep he’s done for…? just don’t get it.
