Americans, do you add beans to your chili?
Post Body

Chili originated in Mexico after the Spanish colonizers brought cattle. It did not contain beans.

However, I love kidney beans (porotos rojos), so I add them bastards. Itโ€™s delicious.

Just wondering how many Americans add beans. My ex-husband, who is Mexican, is adamant to not add beans. ๐Ÿซ˜ imma do it still.

Comments

I used to live with west Texan roommates in Houston. To them, chili was a beef stew with potatoes onions and occasionally beans and corn. It was based on guajillo, ancho, and arbol chiles. Very hot. Weโ€™d add crema to it to mellow it out.
