Why are some things named "*insert a nationality here* style" when they don't seem to have any connotation to a nationality or culture?
Post Body

So I stumbled across a twitter post today mentioning the sex position called "Mexican Style" and all I am thinking about now is how and why it is named like that. I tried searching the origin of it and got nothing. Like were the first people to try this position Mexican people? Is it popular among Mexicans? I just want to know why. Idk. It's really bothering me lol.

I also feel like there are other examples of things being named like this too, outside of sex positions, but it's 3am and I can't list an example from the top of my head right now.

I curious about both this particular instance and in general btw.

Would really appreciate any answers or your theories/perspectives. Thank you so much.
