My friend/colleague (A) is being investigated at work for viewing another employees (B) social media account.
Two years ago A sent some inappropriate messages via social media to B. A put their hands up and was reprimanded and given a warning and told that it would stay on their HR file for 6 months as they are in a trusted position at work.
Two years later B has put a grievance in against A for viewing their Instagram story. A denies doing this and is emotionally broken over the grievance and asked me to sit in the investigation with them.
The investigation was full of holes. Screenshot evidence was mentioned and not presented, the person conducting the investigation didn't even know the date of the apparent Instagram story viewing. The note taker was the investigator and no notes were signed by both parties after the initial investigation.
Regardless of whether it happened or not is this something that work should really be getting involved in? B's Instagram account is not private, anyone can see it.
