Can I use car window tint on sunglasses?
Post Body

So I’m trying to make a pair of “custom” tinted sunglasses. I need 1 side to be 0% tint (no light transmission at all) and the other side to be 5%. I’d like to use a cheap pair of sunglasses or safety glasses and use leftover scraps from a window tint shop to do this. Is it possible? Does it matter if the sunglasses lenses are plastic or glass?

Why? My father has had some increasing problems with his eyes. His right side is hyper light sensitive and basically useless in the dark also. He has been wearing a black eye patch over that side for a while now and there is no evidence to suggest it will ever improve. His left side the vision is cloudy and comes and goes and while useable is also very light sensitive but not as much as the right side. He often wears his patch and regular sunglasses in the house with the lights off. My hope is to make him a set of these “custom” glasses so he can stop wearing his patch and get the right amount of light on the left side to use that eye effectively. I could get an optometrist to help but I’d like to home make this first pair and see if the idea will even work before we go that route.

Any alternative solutions would also be appreciated
