This will likely require people from r/theydidthemath to be involved but I was reading random articles on Wikipedia (you know, as you do) and landed on the one related to Samsara. One of the teachings (Assu Sutta) states the following:
βThis is the greater: the tears you have shed while transmigrating and wandering this long, long time β crying and weeping from being joined with what is displeasing, being separated from what is pleasing β not the water in the four great oceans.β
So I was wondering: if we start from the very, very beginning of our existence on this planet, counting every human that has lived and died so far, is this actually true? If we go by pure math, is the amount of tears wept by humanity, so far, collectively, a larger amount of water than the entirety of water contained throughout the oceans (in fact, let's include seas and lakes and rivers and everything else too, just for fun)? If yes, around when were they equivalent? If not, when will it be?
