Have you had a gut feeling someone was bad?

I have read a novel about a man who on the surface has everything going for him eg good looking, charming, good job but the father of the woman he is going to marry feels there is something not right about him and goes on an obsessive quest to find out if his insintcs are correct. Other people don't share the same view as the father. Have you had the gut instinct that someone was evil who on the surface appeared nice and if you had this feeling, was your gut instinct proved correct.
